KOLKATA: NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) achieved a historic victory in the Durand Cup, overcoming a two-goal deficit to defeat Mohun Bagan 4-3 in a thrilling penalty shootout on Saturday. The match, held at Kolkata’s renowned venue, saw the teams end regulation time tied at 2-2.

Goalkeeper Gurmeet Singh played a crucial role in NEUFC’s triumph, delivering standout performances during the shootout. The 24-year-old made pivotal saves, including a brilliant stop against Liston Colaco’s third attempt and an impressive denial of Mohun Bagan captain Subhasish Bose’s fifth attempt.
