Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Inaugurates 75 BRO Infrastructure Projects Worth Rs 2,236 Crore

Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated 75 infrastructure projects constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) during a virtual ceremony today, dedicated to enhancing connectivity in border areas. The total investment for these projects amounts to Rs 2,236 crore.

Among these, seven road projects and twelve bridges in Jammu and Kashmir were specifically highlighted, with a total cost of Rs 731.22 crore. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh participated in the inaugural function virtually, emphasizing the significance of these developments for the region.

The J&K projects include:

  • Bishnah-Kaulpur-Khojipur (0.0 to 24.328 km) – Rs 73.26 crore
  • Basoli-Bani-Bhaderwah (70.00 to 89.00 km) – Rs 97.76 crore
  • Basoli-Bani-Bhaderwah (89.00 to 102.00 km) – Rs 81.42 crore
  • Galhar-Sansari (0 to 10 km) – Rs 37.69 crore
  • Bandipur-Gureizin – Rs 230.54 crore
  • Mohura-Baaz – Rs 134.99 crore
  • Tutmarigali-Kaiyan Bowl – Rs 24.35 crore

Additionally, 12 bridges were constructed in various locations in Jammu and Kashmir, totaling Rs 51.21 crore.

The ceremony, organized by the BRO at Sukna Military Station in West Bengal, celebrated the inauguration of 22 roads, 51 bridges, and two miscellaneous projects. These infrastructure projects were built under challenging weather conditions and in some of the most inhospitable terrains.

In his address, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the BRO’s unwavering commitment to establishing connectivity in remote areas, highlighting the completion of 450 infrastructure projects over the past five years, with an investment exceeding Rs 16,000 crore. He noted that 2024 has been a record year for the BRO, with a total of 111 infrastructure projects dedicated to the nation.

Shri Rajnath Singh commended the organization for its impressive pace of construction, especially in high-altitude areas characterized by harsh weather and low oxygen levels. He reaffirmed the BRO’s mission of “Connecting Place, Connecting People,” underscoring its crucial role in national security and development.
