Curfew Lifted as Cuttack Restores Calm

Curfew Lifted in Cuttack as City Slowly Returns to Normalcy
Cuttack, Oct 7: After 36 hours of restrictions, the curfew imposed in Cuttack city was lifted on Monday morning as the situation began returning to normal following group clashes during the Durga idol immersion procession.
Police Commissioner S. Deb Dutta Singh said the city is gradually returning to normalcy, with no untoward incidents reported in the last 24 hours. “Since there was no official communication regarding an extension of the curfew, which was due to lapse at 10 am, the restrictions were lifted to allow daily life to resume,” he stated.
The curfew, which had been enforced across 13 police station limits, was imposed to prevent any escalation of violence after clashes erupted during the immersion procession on Saturday night.
However, internet services across the city remain suspended till 7 pm today, following an extension by the State Home Department. The move aims to prevent the spread of misinformation and maintain peace, officials said.
With the relaxation of the curfew, markets and business establishments reopened, public transport resumed, and people cautiously returned to their daily routines. Police and administrative officials continue to maintain strict vigil in sensitive areas, with security personnel deployed at key points to ensure peace and order in the city.
