CUO–OUAT MoU to Boost Odisha Agriculture

CUO, OUAT sign MoU to strengthen agricultural research, boost farmers’ economy in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Jan 28 : In a major step towards strengthening agricultural research, innovation and outreach in Odisha, the Central University of Odisha (CUO), Koraput, and the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar, on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote academic and scientific collaboration.
The MoU aims to enhance research and development in agriculture and allied sectors, with a focus on improving the economic well-being of farmers and contributing to the overall growth of the state.
The agreement was exchanged between Prof. N. C. Panda, Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) of CUO, and Prof. Pravat Kumar Roul, Vice-Chancellor of OUAT, in the presence of senior officials and faculty members from both institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Panda said the collaboration would open new avenues for joint academic and research initiatives. He noted that the MoU would facilitate the exchange of students, scientists and faculty members, along with sharing of methodologies, technologies, scientific literature and information.
He added that such exchange programmes would significantly enhance scientific knowledge and practical skills in agriculture and allied disciplines.
Under the agreement, both universities will share laboratory facilities, subject to availability, and undertake collaborative research, extension and outreach activities in areas of mutual interest. Joint research projects, training programmes and outreach initiatives addressing regional and national agricultural challenges will form key components of the partnership.
The cooperation will be carried out through jointly developed work plans outlining specific activities and contributions of both institutions to ensure effective implementation and measurable outcomes.
CUO Public Relations Officer Dr. Phagunath Bhoi said the MoU will remain valid for a period of three years, with provision for extension based on mutual consent and performance.
