Cops Have Ruined My Son’s Life: Father of Man Detained in Saif Ali Khan Attack Case

The father of Akash Kanojia, a 31-year-old man detained in connection with the attack on actor Saif Ali Khan, has claimed that the police have “ruined” his son’s life. Kanojia, a driver from Indiranagar chawl in Titwala, Thane, was detained by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Chhattisgarh’s Durg on January 18, following a tip-off from the Mumbai police.
The detention came after an intruder attacked Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai residence on January 16. Police had initially suspected Kanojia in connection with the incident, which led to his detention at Durg station.
However, after further investigation, the Mumbai police arrested Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, a Bangladeshi national, from Thane on January 19, confirming that he was the real attacker. Following this, the RPF released Kanojia.
In a statement to the media, Kanojia’s father expressed his anger and frustration, stating that his son’s reputation and life were unjustly harmed by the wrongful detention. He claimed that the ordeal has caused significant distress to his family.
While Kanojia was released, the incident has raised concerns about the handling of suspects and the consequences of wrongful detentions.
