Congress Workers Attempt to Gherao Odisha CM’s Residence Over ‘Blacklisted’ Firm Selection

Protesting the selection of a “blacklisted” firm to conduct recruitment examinations for police personnel and state pollution control board employees, youth and student members of the Congress attempted to gherao Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s official residence on Wednesday.

The recruitment tests for sub-inspectors (SI) in the police force and employees in the State Pollution Control Board are set to take place soon. However, the opposition has raised concerns over the credibility of the company assigned to conduct these crucial examinations.

Members of the Youth Congress and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of Congress, marched towards the CM’s residence on Lower PMG Road, carrying banners, posters, and party flags. They demanded immediate cancellation of the firm’s contract and transparency in the recruitment process.

Security forces intervened to prevent the protesters from reaching the CM’s residence. No reports of violence or arrests were made.

Congress leaders have warned of intensified protests if the government fails to address their concerns. Meanwhile, the state administration has yet to issue an official response regarding the allegations.
