CM Majhi Highlights Chhath Puja’s Spiritual-Essence

Chhath Puja Embodies Tradition, Cleanliness, and Discipline: Odisha CM Majhi
Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday said that Chhath Puja is a unique festival that celebrates the values of tradition, cleanliness, and discipline, emphasizing humanity’s deep connection with nature and its elements — water, air, and the Sun.
Accompanied by his wife, Dr. Priyanka Mandi, the Chief Minister attended the Chhath Puja celebrations at the new Bali Jatra ground in Bhubaneswar, where he offered Arghya (sacred water offering) to the Sun God and prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the people of Odisha.
In his address, Majhi expressed gratitude to nature and the environment, urging everyone to draw inspiration from them to live in harmony with the natural world. He reiterated the Odisha Government’s commitment to promoting the traditions of brotherhood, harmony, and cultural unity.
Highlighting the growing cultural inclusivity in the state, Majhi said Chhath Puja in Odisha has become a symbol of unity among diverse communities. “Its most distinctive feature lies in its simplicity and spiritual devotion. Free from extravagance, it focuses on faith, purity, and discipline,” he said, adding that the festival stands as a remarkable example of cleanliness and order.
The Chief Minister noted that while Chhath Puja has traditionally been celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, it is now observed in Odisha with equal devotion and enthusiasm.
“May Odisha continue to progress on the path of development. May our farmers, workers, youth, and women become more empowered, and may every home be filled with light and happiness,” Majhi concluded.
Prominent attendees included Vishwas Foundation President Rajkumar Singh, Vice President Ajay Bahadur, General Secretary Ashok Bhagat, and Bihar Development Council Coordinator Anand Mohan.
