CM Launches Campaign for Indigenous Products

Odisha CM Launches ‘Akanksha Haat Abhiyan’ to Promote Indigenous Products

In a significant move to empower artisans and boost the local economy, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday launched a week-long campaign aimed at enhancing the market visibility of indigenous products from the state’s underdeveloped and backward regions.

Titled ‘Akanksha Haat Abhiyan’, the campaign was inaugurated during a felicitation event hosted by the Planning and Convergence Department in Bhubaneswar. The initiative is a part of the state government’s flagship Aspirational District and Block Programme, which seeks to drive inclusive growth through grassroots-level development.

Speaking at the event, CM Majhi highlighted the importance of promoting local craftsmanship and traditional products. He emphasized that the campaign would serve as a platform to connect local artisans and entrepreneurs with broader markets, including urban consumers and potential investors.

“The state government is committed to uplifting backward areas by supporting local talent and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities,” Majhi said.

The week-long campaign will feature exhibitions, sales stalls, and awareness activities across several districts, with a special focus on tribal and rural communities. The initiative is expected to not only generate income for local producers but also preserve and promote Odisha’s rich cultural heritage.

Officials from the Planning and Convergence Department stated that the ‘Akanksha Haat Abhiyan’ will also integrate support from various departments, including MSME, Handlooms and Handicrafts, and Rural Development, to ensure comprehensive outreach and impact.
