Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ Set for Strong Box Office Debut Against ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
New Delhi, February 12: Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava is poised for a strong opening at the box office, with trade experts predicting collections exceeding ₹25 crore. The Hindi period drama is set to clash with Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World on February 14, making for an intense box office battle over the Valentine’s Day weekend.
While both films cater to different audiences, Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, brings the story of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to the big screen. Produced by Maddock Films, the historical epic has generated significant buzz, especially among fans of Indian period dramas.
On the other hand, Captain America: Brave New World marks Marvel Studios’ first installment in the Captain America franchise since Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson took over the mantle from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame (2019). However, the Hollywood superhero film faces stiff competition in India, where the audience has shown an increasing preference for regional and historical dramas.
With the exhibition industry relying on re-releases and South Indian blockbusters in recent months, this high-profile box office clash is expected to inject fresh momentum into theatres.
