Centre Directs Jharkhand to Auction 10 Mineral Blocks, Threatens Action

The Union Mines Ministry has instructed the Jharkhand government to auction 10 mineral blocks, including a gold mine, warning that the Centre will initiate the auction process if the state fails to comply.
Sources indicate that these blocks are classified under G2 (general) and G3 (preliminary) levels of exploration. Among the ten blocks are a copper mine, a limestone mine, and a graphite mine, highlighting the diverse mineral wealth in the region.
The Centre’s move underscores the government’s push to enhance mineral production and revenue generation through increased auctioning of mineral resources. This directive aims to ensure that valuable resources are utilized effectively and contribute to the state’s economy.
If Jharkhand does not proceed with the auction as instructed, the Centre is prepared to step in and conduct the auctions itself, indicating the seriousness of the situation. The state government faces pressure to act promptly to avoid losing control over these valuable mineral assets.
As the auction process looms, stakeholders and local communities are closely monitoring developments, hoping for a fair and transparent bidding process that maximizes the benefits for the state and its residents.
