CBI Conducts Searches at 67 Locations in Odisha Over Postal Department Recruitment Fraud

In a major crackdown, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at 67 locations across Odisha on Thursday in connection with an alleged recruitment fraud in the postal department. This operation is part of an investigation into the submission of fake certificates by candidates in the Gramin Dak Sevaks Exam.

The CBI initiated this action following a year-old complaint from the postal department, which accused 63 candidates of submitting fraudulent documents to secure positions. The extensive search operation aims to uncover the involvement of an interstate organized gang responsible for providing these fake certificates.

A total of 204 officials, including 122 CBI officers and 82 personnel from other departments, were deployed to conduct raids at various premises in Kalahandi, Nuapada, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak. The coordinated effort underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the commitment to ensuring the integrity of the recruitment process.

Officials are thoroughly examining documents and questioning individuals at these locations to gather evidence and identify the culprits behind the scam. The CBI’s rigorous investigation aims to bring those responsible to justice and prevent such fraudulent activities in the future.

This development highlights the ongoing efforts by the CBI and other authorities to tackle corruption and maintain transparency in government recruitment processes. As the investigation progresses, further details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the extent of the fraud and the network involved.
