Odisha to Get New Flight Routes: Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda Airports to See Increased Connectivity

Bhubaneswar, November 16, 2024 – In a significant boost to Odisha’s connectivity and economic growth, the state government announced that several airlines will introduce new flight routes from Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda airports. This development is expected to enhance both domestic and regional travel options, while also fostering economic development in the state.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the new flights will operate from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar and Vir Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda, improving air travel accessibility for passengers across the region.

The CMO confirmed that direct flights from Bhubaneswar will soon connect to key cities such as Indore, Dehradun, Kochi, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Jharsuguda. Similarly, Vir Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda will start services to destinations including Hyderabad, Raipur, Lucknow, and Mumbai.

The new routes are expected to ease travel for both business and leisure travelers, making Odisha more accessible and further integrating it into the national air travel network. The expansion of flight options from these two airports is seen as a significant step toward enhancing the state’s infrastructure and connectivity, which is essential for promoting tourism, trade, and overall economic development.
