BFI Chief Accuses Hemanta Kalita of Blocking Lovlina Borgohain from Nationals

Boxing Federation of India (BFI) President Ajay Singh has alleged that recently suspended BFI Secretary General Hemanta Kalita is preventing Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain and other Assam boxers from competing in the upcoming National Championships.

Speaking at an emergency press conference on Wednesday, Singh claimed that Borgohain, who won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in the 69kg category, is eager to participate in the domestic tournament set to begin Thursday in Greater Noida. However, she has been reportedly pressured to withdraw by Kalita.

Kalita, who was suspended over financial mismanagement following an inquiry by former Delhi High Court judge Sudhir Kumar Jain, continues to hold a key position in the Assam boxing association.

The allegations have sparked controversy in Indian boxing, with calls for immediate intervention to ensure fair participation in the Nationals.
