Bangladesh Court Issues Arrest Warrant Against Shakib Al Hasan

A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against Bangladesh all-rounder and former Member of Parliament (MP) Shakib Al Hasan over two bounced bank cheques. The court order, issued on Sunday, follows a legal dispute related to unpaid financial obligations.

The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Ziadur Rahman, issued the arrest warrant and instructed the police to submit a report on the execution of the order by March 24. Shakib, who has not returned to Bangladesh in recent months, is reportedly fearing for his safety after the former Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, was forced to flee the country due to civil unrest last year.

The arrest warrant is the latest development in a legal case involving the cricket star, known for his contributions to Bangladesh’s national cricket team. Shakib, one of the most prominent cricketers in the country’s history, has been embroiled in legal issues before, but this is the first time an arrest warrant has been issued against him.

Shakib’s legal team has not yet responded to the latest court order. The arrest warrant adds a new layer of complexity to his ongoing challenges, as his absence from the country continues to raise questions regarding his future in both cricket and politics.
