Uncapped Anushka Sharma earns maiden India T20 call-up

Uncapped cricketer Anushka Sharma has been included in India’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa women’s national cricket team, starting April 17.

The 22-year-old earns her maiden national call-up after impressive performances in domestic and franchise cricket. She was picked up by Gujarat Giants for ₹45 lakh ahead of the Women’s Premier League 2026, where she made an immediate impact with the bat.

Sharma was also part of the India A squad that competed in the Rising Stars Asia Cup held in Bangkok last month, further strengthening her case for selection.

The T20I series will be held across Durban, Johannesburg, and Benoni.

Her selection reflects the team management’s focus on nurturing young talent as India continues to build depth ahead of upcoming international assignments.
