Ankita Bhakat Shines, Indian Women’s Archery Team Reaches Quarterfinals
PARIS: In a remarkable performance at the Paris Olympics, debutant Ankita Bhakat emerged as the best-placed Indian archer in the women’s individual recurve qualifications, securing the 11th spot. The 26-year-old left behind seasoned campaigners, including Deepika Kumari, to lead the Indian contingent with an impressive score of 666 points.
Bhajan Kaur and Deepika Kumari followed with scores of 559 and 658 points, securing 22nd and 23rd positions, respectively. The strong individual performances contributed significantly to India’s success in the team event.
The Indian women’s team clinched the fourth spot in the team recurve event, scoring a total of 1983 points. South Korea dominated the standings with 2046 points, while China and Mexico secured the second and third positions, respectively.
