A major industrial mishap was averted on Wednesday after personnel from the Odisha Fire and Emergency Services successfully contained an ammonia gas leak at an ice factory in Paradip, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred early in the day, prompting an immediate emergency response. It took fire service personnel approximately three and a half hours to bring the situation under control and ensure the area was safe.
“A swift and coordinated response by our personnel averted a major industrial mishap following an ammonia gas leak at the Paradip Ice Factory,” said an official statement from the department.
