Shri Shah was the Chief Guest at the event, which was also attended by Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, Shri Vinay Kumar Saxena, and Chief Minister, Smt. Rekha Gupta.

In his address, Shri Amit Shah emphasized the vital role the liver plays in the body’s overall health, describing it as the “gateway to a healthy body.” He urged everyone to take a pledge to keep their liver healthy through awareness, diligence, and proper information. Sharing personal experiences, he highlighted the changes in his own life since adopting a healthy lifestyle in May 2020. He encouraged the younger generation to focus on key lifestyle factors such as water intake, diet, exercise, and adequate sleep to achieve their goals.

Shri Shah also praised the HEALED scheme launched by ILBS, calling it an innovative initiative aimed at spreading awareness about liver health across the country. He advocated for regular health checkups, including Vitamin E tests, to ensure overall health, noting that liver health is crucial for the nation’s physical well-being.

He further stressed the importance of Ayurveda and holistic healthcare, pointing to the Vedic saying, “Aahaar Hi Aushdhi Hai” (Food is Medicine), which underscores the link between diet and health. The Home Minister highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts over the last decade to promote a holistic approach to public health, including government initiatives such as the Ayush Ministry, which focuses on preventive healthcare.

Shri Shah outlined various health initiatives launched under the Modi government, such as the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides free healthcare up to ₹5 lakh for millions of citizens, particularly for those above 70 years of age. He also highlighted the significant expansion of health infrastructure, including the construction of new AIIMS and medical colleges, and the establishment of over 15,000 Jan Aushadhi Centers, which offer affordable medicines.

The Union Home Minister also appealed to the corporate sector to support liver health awareness through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and to collaborate with organizations dedicated to promoting liver health. He further encouraged the media to play an active role in raising awareness about liver health and its significance.

In closing, Shri Amit Shah emphasized that while citizens should adopt a healthy lifestyle, the government is committed to providing the necessary healthcare infrastructure and support. He called on ILBS to collaborate with AIIMS and other major hospitals to guide liver patients and expand awareness.
