Adani announces ₹63k-cr Assam power push

Adani Group to Invest ₹63,000 Crore in Major Power Projects in Assam
The Adani Group on Friday announced plans to invest about ₹63,000 crore in Assam to set up two major power projects, including what will become the Northeast’s largest private coal-fired power plant.
In an official statement, the conglomerate said its energy companies have received Letters of Award from the Assam government for the development of these large-scale projects.
As part of the investment, Adani Power Ltd will spend nearly ₹48,000 crore to construct a 3,200 MW greenfield ultra-super-critical thermal power plant under the Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model.
In addition to the thermal project, the group will develop pumped-storage facilities aimed at strengthening the state’s power infrastructure and ensuring long-term energy security.
The massive investment is expected to boost industrial growth, create employment opportunities, and expand Assam’s energy-generation capacity significantly.
More details on project timelines and locations are awaited from the state government and the company.
