ACME Launches India’s First Green Hydrogen

ACME Group to Establish India’s First Green Hydrogen Project in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, June 5 : In a landmark development for India’s clean energy transition, ACME Group has announced the establishment of the country’s first Green Hydrogen Project in Gopalpur, Odisha. The project will be set up within the Tata Steel Special Economic Zone (Tata SEZ) and is expected to catalyze India’s efforts toward achieving its green energy targets.
The announcement was made during the Groundbreaking and Inauguration Ceremony for five industrial ventures at the Gopalpur Industrial Estate on Thursday. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with top government officials, business leaders, and ACME representatives, was present at the event.
ACME Group’s Green Hydrogen initiative will focus on producing green ammonia with an annual capacity of 400,000 tonnes. The project is poised to generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, significantly contributing to the local economy and advancing the region’s industrial landscape.
“ACME Group is privileged to associate with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone to establish the first Green Hydrogen project in India,” said Anil Kumar Taparia, Chief Operating Officer of ACME’s Green Hydrogen Strategic Business Unit. He emphasized the project’s role in decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors and contributing to India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.
In a demonstration of global partnership and commitment to sustainability, ACME has already secured a supply agreement with a leading Japanese corporation to export 400,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually from the Odisha facility starting in 2029. This partnership not only aligns with Japan’s Net Zero vision but also highlights India’s emerging leadership in the renewable energy domain.
The initiative signifies a major step forward in positioning Odisha as a green industrial hub and reinforces ACME Group’s commitment to driving sustainability-driven innovation in India and beyond.
