8 NSUI Workers Detained for Protesting Before RSS Chief’s Cavalcade in Odisha

Odisha Police on Thursday detained eight workers of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) for staging a protest in front of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s cavalcade in the capital city, an official said.

The incident occurred when Bhagwat was traveling from the Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti office in Mancheswar to Jaydev Bhawan near the Secretariat to attend a memorial meeting. As the protesters attempted to block his vehicle, police swiftly intervened and detained them, ensuring the RSS chief’s journey resumed after a brief halt.

Bhagwat enjoys the high-security Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) protocol, equivalent to the security provided to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Authorities are investigating the protest’s motive, while security measures have been heightened in light of the incident.
