12 TNT Explosive Cylinders Recovered from Goods Train Wagon in Odisha

In a concerning security development, railway security personnel recovered 12 TNT explosive cylinders from an unattended wagon of a goods train at Kantabanji Railway Station in Odisha’s Bolangir district on Tuesday.

The discovery raised alarm among authorities, prompting senior officials from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) to rush to the scene for an investigation.

According to Additional Director General (Railways) Arun Bothra, the recovered explosive cylinders were traced back to the Ordnance Factory Badmal (OFBL) in Saintala. “Twelve TNT explosive cylinders were found at the Kantabanji railway station. No case has been registered so far,” Bothra stated.

Officials are currently verifying how the explosives ended up in the unattended wagon and whether there was any security lapse in their transportation. Further investigations are underway to determine any potential threats or procedural violations.

The incident has raised security concerns, with railway authorities expected to tighten monitoring and safety measures regarding the transportation of sensitive materials. More details are awaited as the probe continues.
